Removed the center of the mesh because the radii were trapping bits of skin and blood that couldn't be cleaned, even with a toothbrush and very hot water. Also, I "rounded" the "bottom," which appears as the top in the layout; it is the "open" part that touches the skin, so that it is a little smoother on the pet's skin (the sharp edge of the previous versions did not seem to irritate or annoy my dog (she actually slept on that side!), but, it left an indentation, which, I'm sure, wasn't totally pleasant (my dog doesn't complain about pain!)). I accomplished the "rounding" by placing a short, hollow, cylinder, over the sharp edge (i.e., only the barest contact is necessary to make the sharp edge "flat"; if you make it too deep, then a new sharp edge will appear further out from the center).
