Mermaid at Hyde park, London
myminifactory
The original statue was crafted by William Robert Colton and erected circa 1867. The present statue is a replica dating from approximately 1975 and constructed from concrete. The statue is now known as "Little Nell" on park maps. The sculpture depicts a bare-breasted, young girl standing with her hands placed on her hips. A fish is wrapped around her back, supported by her forearms/wrists. The fish's head faces forward on her left side and its tail rests on her right side. Her long hair falls down over her right shoulder. Around her waist is a large tray, approximately 1.5 meters in diameter, that was likely the base of the original fountain. This object is part of "Scan The World," a non-profit initiative launched by MyMiniFactory to create a digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access at no cost.
