I lowered the rear left window on my 300SD this morning, only to have it fail to go back up again. After this many years, the window regulator clips on the Mercedes w126 series cars are brittle and prone to breakage. The part, as designed, is overly complex (typical Mercedes...) and fragile as a result. My replacement, however, is dead simple. Requires the following hardware: 1in x 5/16in flat-head screw (90deg countersink) 5/16in jam nut 5/16in nylock nut Installation: After removing the door skin, drill out the rivet that supports the old clip and increase the hole diameter to 5/16in. Insert the 1in x 5/16in flat-head screw (90deg countersink) through the printed clip, thread on the jam nut, and tighten securely (it has to be tight enough to hold the screw still while you tighten the locknut, so don't be bashful). Slide the new clip assembly into the rail beneath the window and align with the hole in the regulator's arm. Lubricate the slide and screw's haft (since it will rotate inside the arm's hole), then install the locknut taking care to leave it just loose enough to allow articulation. As this part will be carrying a significant load and subjected to quite a bit of friction, I printed the part in Taulman 618 Nylon vs. ABS for its superior strength and wear properties.
