I lowered the rear left window on my 300SD this morning, only to have it fail to go back up again. After all these years, the window regulator clips on Mercedes w126 series cars are brittle and prone to breaking easily. The part itself is overly complex (typical of Mercedes) and fragile as a result. My replacement, however, is simplicity itself. Required hardware: 1in x 5/16in flat-head screw with a 90deg countersink 5/16in jam nut 5/16in nylock nut Installation: Remove the door skin to access the old clip's rivet and drill out the hole to increase its diameter to 5/16in. Insert the 1in x 5/16in flat-head screw through the printed clip, thread on the jam nut, and tighten securely. It must be tight enough to hold the screw in place while you tighten the locknut. Slide the new clip assembly into the rail beneath the window and align it with the hole in the regulator's arm. Lubricate the slide and screw's shaft since it will rotate inside the arm's hole, then install the locknut while leaving it loose enough to allow for articulation. This part will carry a significant load and be subjected to considerable friction, so I printed it using Taulman 618 Nylon instead of ABS due to its superior strength and wear properties.
