The age of the W126 speedometer weakens and destroys its plastic drive pinion. I own a 1989 Australian-compliance 560SEC with this problem. Replacing it is not easy in Australia, so I opted to print one on my Mendel Prusa II. My design is based on Greg Frost's Openscad file "parametric_involute_gear_v5.0" from 2010. Frost originally designed the pinion but fiddled and fudged with it until it looked right and printed correctly. I modified his Scad file so others can try different configurations if they want to. I printed the new pinion directly from the provided STL file. The odometer works fine with the new pinion, but the first one was a bit small. So, I increased the gear profile slightly in the current STL file for better meshing.
