Mercedes-Benz Super Sport Kurz 710 W06 (custom bodywork) "Black Prince" The model known as SSK was a car built entirely on the W06 SS luxury models, which were true racecars that dominated races like Le Mans 24 hour. The only difference between this car and its predecessors was a shorter wheelbase, making it ideal for uphill mountain races, but also used successfully in GP. Only a few SSKs were built, making them a rarity. All these cars had custom coachwork, with one notable example being the "Black Prince," which had a distinctive bodywork designed upon the request of Carlo Felice Trossi, a renowned GP racer and owner of this piece. The bodywork resembles an airplane in its design. The builder of the car is unknown, with documents gathered by Paul Russell pointing to Willie White as the possible coachbuilder. However, there are also hand drawings signed by White showing a coupé, while a sketch from Trossi himself shows a roadster, leaving room for debate about the true designer/builder. Trossi was a wealthy Italian with connections like Enzo Ferrari, who may have had multiple excellent craftsmen working on his project. The car is currently part of a private collection. The front suspension, steering, and rear suspension are rigged for posing purposes.
