Menhir de la Pierre Droite, Prunay
sketchfab
Menhir of "The Right Stone" This granite siliceous menhir from Fontainebleau measures 1m85 in height, 90cm in width, and an average thickness of 50cm, tapering to its summit. It was erected on the edge of a plateau overlooking Prunay valley in Essonne department, leaning towards it at approximately 25° to 30°. The north-facing side stands out for its flatness, featuring a circular arrangement of cupules or perforations, along with a series of smaller wavy alignments that appear to continue onto the west face. These marks are barely legible and have never been documented. They may be relatively recent in origin since John Peek described very smooth surfaces in his 1975 inventory. Nearby, another smaller stone protrudes from the ground, originating from a different rock type. It might be one of the calibration stones mentioned by Société Préhistorique Française in 1914.
