Mendock--A Mendel Style Delta Bot

Mendock--A Mendel Style Delta Bot

After selling my Mendel i2, I am looking at some delta printers. With love for my Mendel i2, and eager for easy assembly and replicating, I decided I should design something like Mendel i2-- using threaded rods as structures, cheap and easy. The problem is that I have no patience to learn a real CAD just for this project. I'm quite familiar with Thingiverse's ThinkerCAD so I practically used it for all the designing works. BUT as you all know, ThinkerCAD is not good at all in terms of controlling you model, so I think this design, done on ThinkerCAD, is way off from perfect. SO PLEASE make changes. I'll appreciate that. Do not try to make this printer yet if you are not a PRO the name Mendock comes from mendel+rostock. Instructions (I haven't start making this machine yet. Because my next printer---before this potentially, is a Kossel derivation, in kit and not shipped yet. Which means it might take me (4,3?) weeks from now for me to actually start printing stuff. And I have a long list of things to make, so I'm nor sure if this Mendock will actually exist on my desk someday.) So here's my PLAN, absolutely tell me of you find anything that doesn't work. I plan to use some flanged bearings.(see pic) M8, prolonged or not, doesn't matter. But try to find ones with SQUARE flanges, or modify the stls if you want. you can get the bearing from ebay cheap, or McMaster maybe. You need 12 of them. Search LMK8(UU/LUU)(normal/prolonged) some M3 bolts and nuts. 9 of the bolts should be ~20mm long, 12 of them should be around 15mm long, and 6 more of 20mm or more. 15 nuts I would say. The more is always the better tho. gt2 belt of any length you want (not too short tho). And gears(3), 20 teeth should work the best. 12 magnet rings (dia=20mm) and 12 metal ball with threads (http://www.willybanjo.com/shop/body_piercing_jewellery/add_ons/body_piercing_add_on_4mm_thread_ball_5pcs.asp) set screw accordingly, and carbon fiber tubes accordingly inner dia. And Epoxy resin AB glue should be helpful. You can definitely come up with other ideas. welding the metal balls to the caobon fiber tube/rod should work too. 608 bearings, and 6mm bolt of more than 15mm long . (3 each) Basic 3d printer stuff. You know, Steppers, a PSU, electronics (RAMPS 1.4 would be good, use modified marlin firmware), a full set of extruder. threaded rod and linear rods as long as you want. all of 8mm diameters or 5/16".
