Located at The Barbican, London, on the highwalk opposite Barbican Station. A Beech Tree, over 500 years old, stands tall. It once flourished in Burnham Beeches, Buckinghamshire, before falling during a fierce storm in 1990. In 1880, the Corporation of London purchased the forest, safeguarding it for future generations. The area held deep significance for the renowned composer Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, who frequently visited and found inspiration beneath this very tree. He composed several notable works, including music for 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', drawing from the beauty surrounding him. The Barbican Horticultural Society presented this historic tree to preserve its connections to the past. It was unveiled by Carl Davies, a respected composer and conductor, on April 10th, 1993. This site features 175 photographs taken in October 2019 with a Sony a6000 camera. The images underwent processing using Reality Capture software.
