This user addresses warping problems resulting from drafts near their RAMPS fan and PSU, solving this issue by creating friction clips that hold 2mm acrylic sheets over the heated print bed, preventing air flow directly on it. The clips have been adjusted to work well on vertical beams as well. Four clips are suggested for securing an acrylic sheet across the front or back. A rail version of the clip (10cm single piece) works but its insert seems fragile, possibly due to how the part is printed. Suggestions are made to print it along the Z axis with concentric infill like a t-slot beam, and to resume work on it when more ABS becomes available. The user tested the clips with acrylic used in PLA printing tests, which stayed in place during several hours of printing despite vibration and rocking. Clearance for the build platform and access to the build area is recommended while using the acrylic sheet to reduce drafts and prevent heat loss. This thing was made with Tinkercad, and can be edited online. The friction clips were printed without support and have enough play in their design for calibration differences. They were printed in ABS at .4 layer height and .4 infill, but it is suggested that PLA is too brittle and that .2 infill may work. First layer settings should be adjusted to prevent scratching the acrylic. The user hopes this will help others, while looking forward to a zone controlled hotbed as a long-term solution. A friend's interest in creating an enclosure for the frame with clear acrylic is encouraged, and if done, the user would love to see a picture of it.
