An updated version, Fan Mount 5, was added on January 1st, featuring a more angled fan position for improved cooling. The creator states that PLA cooling is crucial during printing, and initially tried a front-mounted fan suggested by Makers Tool Works. However, this was followed by attempts with OhmEye's fan duct and two side-mounted fans facing the nozzle, all with varying degrees of success. Finally, they found OhmEye's new fan mounts (http://www.ohmeye.com/2013/new-mendelmax2-fan-mounts/) useful but designed a new set which worked exceptionally well compared to previous methods. To create this setup, you will need two 24-V fans from Makers Tool Works, eight M3 nuts or zip ties, four M3 x 25 screws (optional), four M3 x 10 screws with nylon washers (or four M3 x 8 screws without them), and four M3 nylon washers. The user chose to use nylon washers to prevent scratching the metal carrier piece, but this step is optional. Attach the mount to the X carriage using M3 screws and nuts, then attach the fans to the mount using either long M3 screws and nuts or zip ties.
