A custom LED holder was designed for the mendel90 dibond or sturdy fan duct, capable of holding two 5mm LEDs securely with a matching holder from Radioshack's catalog, items pn: 276-0080 and pn: 276-0017. For added stability, a little hot glue was applied to attach it firmly to the fan duct, which performed remarkably well even at temperatures as high as 275C on the hotend. Furthermore, individuals requiring 12v supply power for their two LEDs in series will also need a single 220 ohm 1/4watt resistor. To bring this concept into being, I opted for a print using PLA material at a nozzle temperature of .3mm with settings at .22mm layer and a rapid traverse speed of 60mm/s at bed temperatures reaching 185C and 62C respectively. Slicing through Cura's advanced interface resulted in the desired output, which was then printed on a Matterhacker machine featuring an infill density of 75%. Once printed, users may configure their preferred wiring arrangement. Alternatively, my suggested approach involves crafting a separate power supply circuit and grounding plane directly onto a perf board. This modularized system not only provides individual voltage and ground points but also simplifies overall connectivity to the fan's original 12v supply line.
