This vertical X axis adheres to the Reprap vertical X axis standard and uses a 10mm Acme leadscrew. An adapter accommodates an M8 nut for standard studding-driven Mendels. Although the PrismX or OB1 prism may not conform to standard spacing, ensure your printer dimensions are correct before printing the pieces. The design includes a Greg's/Wade's compatible carriage, with an integrated carriage/extruder planned. This is a development of a previous project and features an Art Deco-inspired design. For printers using standard M8 studding, required prints include: 2 motor mounts, 7 LM8UU holders, 1 Z Carriage X (+/-), and 1 X Carriage. Additional prints may be necessary for the Z leadscrew support, a belt-compatible pulley (if using a belt-driven Z), and the z leadscrew top bearing restraint. To attach the belt to the carriage, use M4 screws through hex-pattern holes, securing with 20mm diameter fender washers or custom-printed parts. Tighten the belt after securing the belt to the carriage by adjusting the X motor position.
