Mendel Pen Holder
thingiverse
To resolve issues with the original Prusa pen holder, I redesigned it in OpenSCAD with several improvements. Firstly, I altered the top bracket to include channels guiding rubber bands and a loop retaining them, preventing unstable balances or loss during pen removal. Secondly, I moved elastic band capture bolt holes further from the body for easier installation. The bottom tube was extended to avoid proximity issues with the X-carriage. Lastly, I rotated top plate mounting holes 90 degrees and sliced off circle sides to fit Greg Frost X-Carriage. For printing, Slic3r with 3 perimeter walls and 0.65 infill was used. Assemble by holding the pen as an alignment guide, fastening top and bottom using 2 M3 bolts, adding elastic bands, and mounting on the X-Carriage.
