Made some major upgrades to my Mendelmax Variatie 3D printer! First, I used extrusions from a stock Mendel Max 1.5 to give it more robust frame. I had only two 340mm-long extrusions for Y-travel, but they worked out great as the double V-wheels are directly mounted on the Y-carrier, which is standard on Prusa i3 machines. Next, I replaced the plastic X-carrier with a sleek aluminum one that adds some serious class to my printer. But wait, there's more! I also installed variable Z-endstop control for smoother operation. After these upgrades, the Mendelmax is now printing away nicely, and I just swapped out the 2.5mm timebelt for a shiny GT2 belt – prints are looking better than ever! One thing I'll mention: my machine is super quiet – it's almost whisper-quiet! Big shoutout to the folks at Openbuilds who make amazing parts like their Delrin V-wheel kit (check out their store). And kudos to the community over at Thingiverse for creating awesome projects, such as the Z-carriage mod found on thing 11864. Instructions? Well, not right now.
