Mendel Dynamics
thingiverse
Mendel Dynamics, a Barcelona Dynamics-designed open-source 3D printer based on Prusa Mendel, introduces performance enhancements and simplifies assembly and calibration. The main changes involve replacing numerous plastic pieces and rods with methacrylate plates, which can also be made from wood or aluminum. Advantages of this design include streamlined assembly due to the substitution of plastic components with methacrylate plates, reduced calibration time as holes are already accurately spaced on the plates, and increased robustness in Z-axis stabilization and X/Y belt tensioning. While some new plates may not fit on a Prusa or self-designed printer due to length, most can be easily printed. For instructions, refer to the wiki page (in Spanish), more information on Reprap, and download the latest source code from GitHub. Assembling instructions and a bill of materials are also available online.
