Mendel DC Extruder

Mendel DC Extruder

thingiverse

This unregulated DC motor design relies on powerful torque from a 12V, 30RPM gearmotor for consistent extrusion. It drives 3mm PLA rapidly and utilizes the mendel_misc.inc file. The 4mm output shaft has a flat used to anchor a knurled M4 nut with a drilled hole. Punching and solder secure the nut to the shaft. A 16mm M8 washer, 608 bearing, and 40mm M8 bolt with wingnut are employed, ensuring a movable bearing due to loose mounting holes. Inserting the motor into the extruder body with output shaft first aligns the knurled nut with the filament hole, which is then clamped in place using an M4 machine screw, washers, and nut. Functioning similarly to stepper-driven extruders, this design can be driven by PWM 12V DC.
