Eugeny N. Rotanov was born in the Ural region in 1940. From 1959 to 1965 he studied at the prestigious Leningrad Higher College of Art and Industry named after V.I. Mukhina, where he honed his skills in sculpture under the guidance of renowned artist Valentina Lavrentievna Rybalko, a protégée of A.T. Matveev. Rotanov has been an active member of the Artists' Union since 1971 and served on the board from 1980 to 1988, overseeing the creative sector of sculpture. His impressive career also includes stints as a member of the Expert Art Council under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs from 1993 to 1996 and as a committee member for City Planning and Architecture. Rotanov's notable achievements have earned him the title of Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, with a Silver Medal of Art Academy awarded in 1999.
