Melusina Sculpture - 3D Scan of the Luxembourg Legend
thingiverse
The story of Melusina is a medieval legend that has been passed down through generations, and it has become an integral part of Luxembourg's cultural heritage. Melusina was a beautiful woman who lived with her husband Siegfried, Count of Luxembourg. She presented him with seven children but every Saturday she would disappear from sight, locking herself in her room. Her husband grew suspicious and one day he discovered that she was hiding in the cliffs, where she had taken on the form of a fish. Siegfried was horrified and Melusina disappeared into the depths of the cliffs, never to be seen again. The legend says that every seven years she appears in human form above the cliffs, asking passersby to redeem her. If this does not happen, she cries out mournfully and disappears back into the cliffs. In recent times, a sculpture of Melusina was created by Serge Ecker and is on display at the Musée d’histoire de la ville de Luxembourg. The sculpture captures the beauty and tragedy of Melusina's story. The legend of Melusina has become a part of Luxembourg's folklore and is still celebrated today. It serves as a reminder of the city's rich history and cultural heritage.
