Melting Ball in Cage
thingiverse
This design features a ball within a cage, created using Groboto for the base model, further manipulated in Sculptris, and finalized in Cheetah3D. Initially, the "puddle" was horizontal, resulting in odd grain orientation; however, the vertical cage with angled puddle version resolved this issue. Printed on a MakerBot Replicator2 using PLA from ProtoParadigm, it required 10% infill, 0.2mm layer height, single shell, 40 feedrate, 55 travel feed, and 220 temperature. A raft with full support was employed for the printing process.
