Installed near the royal pavilion of the Chateau de Marly in 1706, Nicolas Coustou's commissioned marble sculpture frames the cascade of its river. A life-size depiction of Meleager, it stands proudly as a work by Nicolas Coustou (1658-1733) from Lyon to Paris. Meleager, renowned hero of Greek mythology, was revered at his sacred site in Calydon, Aetolia.
