MeIsJohn's 3DPN Spool Holder
myminifactory
This spool holder is an entry for the Joel Telling / 3D Printing Nerd Spool Holder Design Challenge. It's designed to fit perfectly on the shelving unit he showcased in his video. The goals of this design are clear: Safely and securely add a spool holder to Joel's shelf without compromising its stability. Achieve a clean design with minimal visible fasteners, making it a sleek addition to any workspace. Allow plenty of space above the spools on the holder so they don't interfere with each other. Ensure easy installation, relocation, and removal of the spool holder for maximum convenience. Minimize the need for supports during printing, reducing waste and saving time. Include a replaceable spindle that can accommodate different size filament spools, making it versatile and practical. The model consists of several key components: Frame: The main body that sits snugly on the lumber, providing a sturdy base for the spool holder. Spindle: The part where the spool hangs or spins, designed to fit securely in place. Bottom Slider: A small piece inserted into the frame to secure it around the lumber, keeping everything in place. Screw: Used to fasten the spindle to the frame, ensuring a tight and secure connection. Rotating Lock: A clever mechanism that prevents the spindle from spinning on its own, adding an extra layer of safety. Slider Stop: A small component that prevents the bottom slider from coming loose, providing an added sense of security. Assembly Instructions: Print all parts with precision and care. Insert the screw into the frame from inside, working your way towards the front. Line up the spindle with the screw and use the hole in the rear of the frame to turn it, but don't tighten just yet. Insert the rotating lock into the frame from inside, sliding it into place until it clicks. Tighten the screw securely to keep everything in place. Insert the slider stop into the hole at the rear of the frame, making sure it's parallel with the top. Install the holder on the lumber with ease. Insert the bottom slider and push it fully into the front of the frame. Rotate the slider stop to secure the bottom slider in place. Hang your spool on the completed holder and enjoy the satisfaction of a job well done! And remember, print more stuff!
