The instructions indicated that I should have added heat sinks directly onto the main processor of the Pololu, but attempting this caused one of my components, a 5V voltage regulator, to be damaged after a thermal heat sink slid down into some pins during assembly. A better method for securing these components involves simply adding thermal insulation stops near the main heat source while preserving unobstructed airflow as well as unhindered access to sensitive adjustments such as potentiometer dials or trim pots.
