Megasquirt JimStim Housing
thingiverse
Great box for the Jimstim tester that mates perfectly to the assembled Megasquirt 2. The Jimstim is a vital tool in constructing the Megasquirt 2, and we all know its value. When building the MS2, we connect both the motherboard and Jimstim on a non-conductive surface, and then perform our testing and adjustments. However, once the MS2 is fully built and housed, the Jimstim needs to be propped up to attach to the DB37 connectors or it will droop down and lose connection. There's also the issue of stray wires or metal pieces shorting the Jimstim's open PCB board. The housing I created puts the Jimstim exactly level with the MS2 so you can simply slide the two units together, and it also has a mount for the 9v battery on the back to prevent it from dangling. To make installation easy, I designed the box so you just insert the pot side into the notch and let the other side drop in like closing a door. For added security, I used an extra metal screw from the MS2 heatsink (a 4-40 x 1.0") to secure the PCB in place, inserted through the V2 voltage regulator heatsink hole near the DB37 connector. The unit is now self-contained, and I'm working on a dust cover that can be easily removed if you need to add jumpers or reconfigure the Jimstim.
