This is a basic bottle opener that fits onto a keychain. This image showcases the shooter stance from the Megaman sprite sheet, enhanced with extra material for a firm grip on the bottle cap. I created this model using a Printrbot Play printer, .4mm nozzle, gray PLA at 208 degrees Celsius. To ensure a stable print, I applied painter's tape and TRESemme extra-hold spray adhesive, which held the object firmly in place on the printing plate. As the design features detailed patterns that appear equally well on both sides, I printed it upright with support structures to prevent scratching the rim. Unfortunately, my initial test opening a beer bottle failed due to insufficient infill - 19% is far too low. To rectify this issue, I will update the design soon to include additional internal support for added stability. **Printer Settings** - **Printer Brand:** Printrbot - **Printer Model:** Simple White - **Use Raft:** Yes - **Use Support Material:** Yes - **Infill Density:** 50%+ - **Additional Notes:** - I highly recommend an infill density of at least 50%. The first print broke with only a 19% infill rate. **Post-Printing** I'm sharing my initial results to help you plan your next prints better. Please note that my design required stronger support in areas prone to stress and movement. As we look ahead, our new model will incorporate enhanced strength, thanks to added internal support. It features filled regions between the legs for greater stability and a redesigned "knee hook" connected directly to the character's toe for increased rigidity. **Designing This Model** I found an intriguing sprite online and translated it into a 3D design by creating a grid matching its pixel divisions, deleting outer polygon outlines to achieve crisp detail. Subsequently, I extracted distinct color regions, using extrusion techniques to create detailed elements from the original 2D image. Applying Ambient Occlusion offered valuable insights on maintaining model accuracy while reducing print material usage for a monochromatic effect.
