A massive Carcharodon chubutensis tooth, a prehistoric megashark fossil, is part of the esteemed collection at the Natural History Society of Maryland. This ancient species thrived during the Miocene Period, leaving behind a legacy that spans approximately 28 to 5 million years. The distinctive features of this tooth are its serrated cusps along the sides and serrated vestigial cusps - diagnostic characteristics that set it apart from others.
