Mega X top tarp/cover support
thingiverse
I have a tool holder and a caliper holder attached to the top of my Anycubic Mega X. I bought a tool cover to help keep the dust off of it, but every time I pulled the cover off, it took some tools with it. I wanted something to put an end to this. After a couple of designs and some trial and error, I came up with this. After placing one of these on each side of the top crossbeam, my cover comes off without knocking the caliper or tools off. A couple of things to note: 1) I made the tolerances here very tight. In previous iterations, they were less tight and the supports would not stay on. The trade-off was that it was much easier to put them on. In its current state, it stays on very well but required me to shave off some of the bottom clip with my exacto knives to get it attached. Rather than try to make such a tiny adjustment to the design and keep wasting filament, I decided to leave it as is. BE CAREFUL when attaching this that you do not torque the crossbeam too hard and bend it! 2) My recommendation for attaching these is to shave a little of the bottom clip, connect the rear clip first as it has a deeper groove to make it secure, then carefully attach the bottom clip making sure not to bend your printer's crossbeam. If you just can't get it on, shave a little more of the bottom clip off and try again. It only took me about 2-3 minutes with my exacto knife to get this where it would go on well but not come off easily. 3) I recommend printing at 100% infill. In an effort to keep it a fast print that uses very little filament, I made all of the pieces 2-3 mm thick. If you do walls that are .8-1mm in thickness, it doesn't really leave much room for infill. Printing at 100% makes very little difference in speed and makes it a little stronger.
