Mega Charizard X is the result of taking Charizard to a whole new level, making its first appearance in the critically acclaimed Pokémon X & Y. To become Mega Charizard X, players need the highly sought-after Charizardite X, available exclusively through Pokémon X. With a striking color makeover and a switch to Fire/Dragon-type status, Mega Charizard X now enables Charizard to proudly join the elite Dragon-type Pokémon ranks. On top of its type change, Mega Charizard X also enjoys a significant increase in its already impressive Attack stat, as well as a special bonus from the Tough Claws ability, amplifying the impact of contact moves like Dragon Tail. It broke new ground on October 2nd, catching international attention for the first time during Pokémon Origins' Japanese premiere and soon after, it made a major splash on the official Pokémon website.
