MeetMat2: Mat The guardian of the Forest

This is my entry for the MeetMat2 contest, heavily inspired by Shadow of the Colossus's character design - as an environment artist myself, I approached this character with the same mindset I would use when designing terrains. The goal was to push Substance Painter's new height blending tools and experiment with their capabilities. A realistic texture approach was my objective, and I'm excited about where it took me. I created some base textures and alphas in Substance Designer and Photoshop, but all creative process occurred within Painter itself. I had a blast competing in this contest and it was an incredible learning experience!!
