Meehl Drive Extruder
thingiverse
This early concept of a belt-driven extruder features the extruder motor mounted at the x end, with force transferred via a differential. The goal is to make it easily implementable without software or firmware knowledge. It accomplishes the task mechanically but can also be done via software. Users can implement the design using custom gear models. The X assembly has two belts: one for the X carriage and another for the extruder, with a pulley connecting to a differential at the end of the X belt. This design offers benefits such as lighter X carriage, no new software requirements, potential smaller X rods, and less printer vibration. The extruder and X carriage designs are from Thingiverse.
