This vessel originates from a profoundly disturbed underwater archaeological site in Scarborough Harbour, Tobago. Dr. Kroum Batchvarov of the University of Connecticut is spearheading an investigation into the area to uncover more secrets about this artifact and numerous others like it discovered beneath the waves at http://tobagoshipwrecks.com/. The jar itself was initially encased in a layer of shells and barnacles, but has since undergone a thorough cleaning process.
