Medium Carabiner

Medium Carabiner

There are some pretty neat carabiners on Thingiverse. I just thought I'd take a crack at it. After a couple of tries I finally made something I was happy with. I can't take credit for the gate mechanics, I patterned that after one I found posted by Charlie1982 (thanks!). If I can come up with my own design I may try redesigning it. Anyway, carabiner is slightly smaller than most of the others of a 'similar' style. I haven't done any strength tests. Feel free to perform those and let us all know what you find out. As for what we have here, there are two different versions. The base carabiner is the same, but one offers a simple chamfered edge while the other has a 'rib' that runs down the middle of it on either side. The gate is compatible with both. I have found that the gate is a little snug on the ribbed one, but nothing a little sanding won't solve. I may at some point trim it a little bit. The chamfered model requires no supports, while the ribbed one and the gate will require some sort of support. I printed these with a simple skirt at .2mm layer height, 50% infill and six wall layers (maybe a bit excessive).
