Meditation Pillow
sketchfab
This is a zafu, a round meditation pillow crafted out of cotton and filled with recycled fabric scraps. Kimjaly manufactured it and sold it at a Decathlon store in the Netherlands for €25. The zafu measures 35 cm in diameter and weighs 1.5 kg. A zipper on the side makes it easy to remove and wash the sleeve. Zafus originated in China, but the term is Japanese and composed of two characters: "za" (meaning "seat") and "fu" (meaning "reedmace"). The reedmace plant provided the traditional filling material for these meditation cushions. Sitting on a raised surface allows users to maintain a straightened back during meditation, preventing back pain. This design helps keep the body in alignment while focusing on the breath or a mantra. The original plain gray fabric features intricate embroidery on both sides with symbols from the animated TV series "Avatar: The Last Airbender." This show aired from 2005-2007 and was a global phenomenon among young audiences. One side displays the four elements – water, earth, fire, and air – in their corresponding colors. The other side showcases a white lotus tile from "Pai Sho," a game played by characters in the show. Created by Marc and Boas.
