Medieval Vambrace (FreeCAD Parametric)
thingiverse
Seriously, who would protect his shoulder without protecting his forearm? Here's my design for a medieval vambrace that fits with my medieval shoulder design on Thingiverse. I created this design using FreeCAD and it's fully parametric. I'd like to thank MasterG403 for printing it for me, as my delta is currently under reconstruction. His help was invaluable! The STL files are based on my forearm dimensions, which appear standard to me (although I'm not an expert). There are two different logos to choose from - pick the one you like best. This design uses FreeCAD's spreadsheet functionality, but ATM logo must be centered manually (I'll fix that soon). To customize: Take your forearm measurements (W/H wrist, W/H just before elbow with arm bent at 90) and the length of the inner forearm. Open the FCstd file with FreeCAD 0.17 and access the "var" spreadsheet. Adjust values to fit your needs. Select "Main Plate Rounded" and the "Final Logo" you prefer (use the Shift Key). Click File-Export, save the STL somewhere, print, and enjoy! Print Settings: Printer: FLSun Kossel Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 Infill: 10-15% Notes: This design is great for testing your z capability (print one extremity flat on the bed). Printed scale 100%, .3 in photo, and takes around 5h at 65 mm/s. BTW, it looks a lot better with metallic silver filament! Post-Printing: Use a permanent gold marker to highlight details. Optionally, you could glue leather band inside for style and fit.
