Medieval torch
thingiverse
This is a fully functioning battery operated prop torch that stands at an impressive 2 feet tall. Its height can be easily extended by simply swapping in a slightly longer body tube. The torch draws inspiration from the iconic designs featured in the popular show Reign, and its construction process was heavily influenced by Adam Savage's tour of The Expanse's practical effects shop. To see the exact steps involved in building this prop, check out the video at 13:32 on YouTube (link provided below). The bottom tube of this torch has a diameter of 24mm, specifically designed to fit snugly within the BT-50 size category. In contrast, the middle tube boasts a diameter of 33mm and falls under the BT-55 size designation. Both tubes can be easily printed using a 3D printer, but I've opted not to include their files as they are simply hollow columns. To assemble this prop torch, print all the necessary pieces except for four Vertical struts v2. I've intentionally included a .2mm tolerance in most of the parts to ensure a seamless and tight fit.
