Medieval Shoulder Armor

Medieval Shoulder Armor

thingiverse

I was on the hunt for some medieval shoulder protection for me and my little ones, but I couldn't find anything that could keep up with their energetic playstyle. So, I figured this was the perfect opportunity to fire up my FreeCAD software and design something new from scratch! Here's the resulting product! It looks amazing, and you can wear it without feeling embarrassed at all. I printed them scaled down to 60% for my kid, 65% for my other little one, and 85% (since I need a large bed) for myself. You'll also need to print the pivot cover at the same scale. After printing, remove the pivot, paint it with a permanent gold marker (like Sharpie), glue the cover on top of the pivot, and attach a leather strap inside the largest plate to secure it to your costume. I used silver filament for printing and painted the gold part using a gold Sharpie. I've included the FreeCAD file so you can customize the pivot cover or modify the design to your liking - have fun! Be sure to check out my other designs on Thingiverse, including http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1804922 and http://www.thingiverse.com/Stonedge/designs. I hope this makes some little knight happy! If you give it a try, please post some pics! **Print Settings** * Printer Brand: RepRap * Printer: Tevo Tarantula with large bed and FLsun Kossel * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.2mm * Infill: 15% * Notes: Number of shells - 3 The STL file contains five independent parts (three armor plates and two pivots) that are already correctly positioned, along with the required support for the pivots. So, simply open the STL file with your favorite slicer, scale it to your needs, and print! **Scaling Examples** * Scaled at 60%: internal distance between pivots - 145mm * Scaled at 65%: internal distance between pivots - 155mm **Post-Printing Instructions** Use a pair of long-nose pliers or a small flat screwdriver to pop out the small pivot support triangle. Turn both pivots to ensure they're free from the three armor plates. Glue the pivot cover and top strap in place, attach it to your favorite medieval costume, and enjoy!
