Medieval manacles/handcuffs/leg irons
myminifactory
These medieval-style manacles are exact replicas with hinges that don't require any external support - they simply print as-is and function perfectly. The edges in contact with skin are carefully chamfered to make them surprisingly comfortable to wear. For cosplay or when strength isn't a concern, feel free to use any print settings you prefer. If you're looking for optimal strength from your cuffs, try printing them in a robust material like ABS, using 0.2mm layers or higher and setting the number of walls/perimeters/shells to at least 15. I've included the FreeCAD source file so you can easily tweak the parameters to suit your needs: inner diameter (width/height), thickness, height, etc. Simply open the spreadsheet and adjust the values as desired. If you'd rather not mess with FreeCAD but want a custom variant, just leave a comment specifying what you're looking for and I'll upload the updated file. You can change the following parameters: - Inner diameter (width/height) - Thickness - Hinge outer/inner diameter - Hinge spacing (on XY and Z) - Length of the outer "lip" - Padlock hole diameter - Height If you don't want to get involved with FreeCAD, I've included several pre-made variants for common use cases: - Size: 50x60mm, 55x65mm (for wrists), 70x80mm or 75x85mm (for ankles) - Thickness: 5mm or 8mm - Height: 30mm, 40mm or 50mm For example, the file "cuff-mk2-5060530.stl" has a diameter of 50x60mm, thickness of 5mm and height of 30mm. The hole at the end is 5mm in diameter. Update: I've revised the design to move the padlock hole closer to the centre, adjusted the hinge size and lengthened the lip by 5mm for added strength.
