Medieval Lintel on Door, Arcidosso
sketchfab
A stunningly crafted early Renaissance lintel adorns a house door near the San Niccolo church in Arcidosso, Grosseto, Tuscany. This was the residence of Pietro Amati, a renowned sculptor from Arcidosso who passed away in 1639, and the lintel features prominently in the center a possible Christologic monogram IHS or alternatively the crest of a noble family. The piece has been reused in its current position and was cleverly integrated upside-down as indicated by the orientation of the intricate decoration.
