The acinaces, also known as an akinakes, is a distinctive type of dagger or short sword that was widely used throughout the eastern Mediterranean region during the first millennium BC. Its origins are unclear, but it's believed to have been employed primarily by ancient warriors such as the Medes, Scythians, and Persians, who prized its sharpness and agility in close combat situations. Greek warriors also made use of this versatile weapon, which was well-suited for a variety of tasks including both defensive and offensive maneuvers.
