Medieval font 2
thingiverse
This is a printout of a reconstructed 14th-century font, made possible by scans from Usher Gallery and The Collection in Lincoln. Visit lincoln3dscans.co.uk/reconstructed-font/ for more information. To enhance printability, the upper basin was carefully trimmed, and the inner surface was smoothed out. I also added support structures using meshmixer. Recommended slicing settings for this font are 200um, PLA material, with a 5% hexagonal infill pattern. For the basin, consider using a circular top/bottom fill pattern to achieve a more natural appearance. I have two printouts: one features a black drybrushed finish with light grey undertones, while the other showcases an ivory finish, drybrushed with a subtle grey wash. Although the ivory/grey version is intended to resemble original limestone, I must admit that it doesn't quite meet my expectations. If you have any suggestions on how to improve its realism, please share. The font's scale is 1:14.5, which may seem unusual at first, but it allows for a more meaningful comparison with another font of mine, available on Thingiverse as http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1248542. I would like to extend my gratitude to Lincoln for their outstanding 3D scans project – exceptional work indeed!
