Cow Gate (“Kuhtor”) - A Historical Gem in Rostock, Germany Located at the southern end of what was once a quartet of land gates, Cow Gate is the smallest yet most fascinating of them all. Built around 1262, it has been documented under its current name since the 14th century. Initially constructed as a prison with lenient custody terms, it later transformed into a cozy dwelling house. A major reconstruction took place in 1937, but the gate's fortunes changed for the worse during World War II when it was severely damaged in 1942. The rebuilding process followed shortly after, and since 1985, Cow Gate has been repurposed as a literary hub. The reconstruction process involved RealityCapture, Meshmixer, and Blender. Considering the model's success, scanning the entire building is now on the radar to create an even more comprehensive digital representation of this historic landmark.
