sketchfab
The archaeological complex of Melque stands out as one of Spain's most significant historical sites from the High Middle Ages. Situated within the municipality of San Martín de Montalbán, a mere 30 kilometers separate it from Toledo's city center. This ensemble comprises an exceptionally well-preserved church, monastery, multiple dams, and a fence or wall. Nevertheless, experts remain divided regarding its founding date. Some researchers attribute it to the seventh century, aligning with Visigothic times, while others propose that it was established in the eighth century by Mozarabs – Christians living under Muslim rule. In total, five preserved dams form one of Spain's most crucial medieval hydraulic systems. The dams visible in the 3D model correspond to numbers II and III.
