Medal for Sumo Wrestling Tournament
thingiverse
I crafted this in Tinkercad. Edit it online https://www.tinkercad.com/things/lWeZ8oHLkI7. I uploaded it directly from Tinkercad into Thingiverse, but then my 3D printer reported that the .stl was "not manifold." So I fixed it at makeprintable.com and posted it here - it's the file with "manifold" in the name. I originally designed it for a 5mm thick base and 5mm raised lettering. That's a large & thick medal! My favorite prints are scaled at 0.5 for the y-axis, which reduces the base to 2.5mm thick and the raised lettering also to 2.5mm. This thinner medal is lighter and somewhat flexible. For the medal shown, I switched filament colors when the base was finished and before the letters were printed. The base is at layer 24 or 12, and the lettering starts at layer 25 or 13 (depending if your y-axis scale is 1.0 or 0.5). I simply paused the printer, raised the z-axis by 20mm, changed the filament making sure I didn't move the extruder at all, lowered the z-axis by 20mm, then resumed printing.
