This is a replacement part for the no longer produced cycle selector shaft, identified by part number 8542717. It is compatible with the Maytag MED9700SQ0 dryer and may fit similar Whirlpool models as well. The shaft typically features detents for a ball and spring, but I was unable to achieve accurate alignment or depth of cut, so they have been omitted; you can either edit them in according to your needs or use a small round file to add them manually. I have added additional supports at the base of each shaft end, a feature that is lacking in the original Maytag design. This enhancement should help prevent future breaks.
