A few years ago I designed a mechanized CamBot that had a real camera and some servo motors allowing it to tilt and pan powered by a Raspberry PI. I was going to build a backpack mounting system with some clear acrylic to make it look like it was hovering when we would go to cons with our other MST3K bots, but things got sidetracked.

My loss is your gain, build a CamBot and let's see what you do with it!!!

NOTES:

Center Ring should be printed with clear filament.

Use NeoPixel or LCD tape for light fx around the orb, a NeoPixel ring for the cam fx.

The pan/tilt mechanism utilizes standard RC servos, but is a bit wonky, maybe you can do better?

Either glue or plastic-weld the Lens mount to one of the orb halves, the rest slide on and use M2/M3 screws.

In mine I have a LCD voltmeter in the back along with a 5v regulator allowing me to plug it in to a 12v power source.

What's that thing attached to the RasPi at the top? It's a 4-mic array for voice commands.
