Mechanical Slide

Mechanical Slide

thingiverse

Create a low-cost, 3D printed mechanical slide with minimal OEM parts! Despite not being as high quality as an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) slide, this design functions effectively. You only need two main OEM items: a 1/8" brass U-channel, which is inexpensive and available at most hobby stores or online, and 1/8" diameter steel balls (easily obtained). Assembly involves following posted pictures with assembly notes; ensure attention to part build direction. Printing all parts took approximately an hour and a half on standard settings. Note that the brass channel may not be perfect, with slight unevenness in one side of the U-shape. This can be compensated for during assembly. The slide has minimal play (0.005-0.010) and supports up to a couple of pounds without issue. Adjustable bearing cage files are provided for different ball configurations based on application needs. Be mindful of part orientations as shown in the images may be incorrect.
