Mechanical Shears

This is the Mechanical Shears model from 507 Mechanical Movements. Check out this link for more info: http://507movements.com/mm_130.html. To get started, you'll need a few basic parts: a 5/16" dowel, four 5/8" #6 screws, two 1/4" #6 screws, and a rubber band. You should also have the crank, nut, and cams on hand, each with a flat side that needs to be shaved or sanded down to fit snugly on the dowel. Here's how to assemble everything: first, attach the crank, handle, and base to the dowel using pilot drill holes for the screws. Then, screw in all the screws and trim the dowel ends flush with a saw. For more details, check out my blog post here: http://artofrandomness.net/blogs/matts-blog/mechanical-shears-maychanisms-4/.
