Mechanical Prosthetic Concept Model
thingiverse
This Mechanical Prosthetic Concept was designed by Jose Alves da Silva for Field Ready, a global non-profit organization leading disaster relief efforts worldwide through http://www.fieldready.org in collaboration with Bold Machines using zBrush as the development platform. The main objective behind this design was to create a fully 3D printed prosthetic hand that could be assembled without any screws, nuts/bolts or tools - components often difficult to source in remote areas. We utilized fabric strips and elastic bands from discarded shorts for our testing purposes. Our secondary goal was to ensure that the model's files were easily accessible for others to design, modify, and improve - specifically tailoring it to suit various needs. To facilitate this collaborative process, we encourage users to download this model from Thingiverse, put it to the test, make any necessary modifications, and share their printing experiences along with photos!
