Mechanical Iris w/ embedded M3 hex nut & M3 12mm
thingiverse
Remix of the Mechanical Iris by Sketchpunk - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:773759 - so that I could use a 12mm M3 screw and M3 hex nut - the front mount & back mount have been modified from the original. Screw head & nut will not sit entirely flush due to the thinness of the parts, but stick out a lot less than without this remix. I found the threaded hole for the M3 screw to be tight but I used the model from Prusa and it's likely just tight because I printed at .35mm layer height - if you have this issue - I just used my tweezers to slightly enlarge the hole. Assembled photo from Sketchpunk - the two with the embedded nut & screw are my own. You need to print: 1x v2_frontmount_m3_hex_nut 1x v2_backmount_m3_12mm You can reuse the other parts from the original model or print: 1x v2_pivot 4x v2_spacer 11x leaf 11x leafpin Glue the pins to the leaves so that there is a pin sticking out from the face opposite to the face with the printed on pin (e.g. a pin on either end of the leaf - one pointing up & one pointing down). It's designed this way so the leaf can print without supports.
