Mechanical Iris - Gears & Rails
thingiverse
see it moving: https://www.instagram.com/p/BuZ9Ma3jbU7/ This is basically a doodle, no purpose in sight - just something I whipped up for fun to experiment with drive systems and motion. Enjoy the ride! Printed fine with standard settings in Cura on my trusty Lulzbot Taz 6. You'll need 7 of the spur gear, leaf, and rack. To assemble: 1. Place the drive gear on the base. 2. Slide the racks into place with ease. 3. Drop in the spur gears and test their motion. 4. Snap on the leaves and give it a spin. 5. Remove leaves and adjust rack placement as necessary to get it just right.
