Mechanical Filament Runout Sensor for Prusa MK2, MK2S
thingiverse
I've redesigned the filament sensor from NSGrimace using the snap-on design from CNCKitchen. As optical sensors often struggle with translucent and transparent filaments, a mechanical microswitch is an excellent solution for reliably checking the filament's presence. To keep the sensor as compact as possible without relying on screws, I incorporated several improvements into the design: - The housing no longer interferes with the standard idler. - A screwless cover and microswitch mounting system ensure secure attachment. The switch is monitored by Octoprint/OctoPi using the Filament_sensor_reloaded plugin. https://plugins.octoprint.org/plugins/filament_sensor_reloaded/ Important: The actuation point may vary depending on the specific microswitch used. To address this, you can adjust the mounting rods accordingly. Please give it a try and provide some feedback! Best regards, Happy Printing!
